Thinadhoo Port project includes dredging

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) and Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) have signed a contract for the development of a regional port at the island of Thinadhoo in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll.

Under the deal, the port will be developed on a 108,000 square foot area allocated in the island.

Overall, the contract includes dredging a 4,500 cubic meter area in the lagoon, leveling the ground in the area, installing a security fence and a smart water drainage system.

Managing Director of MTCC, Mr. Adam Azim said at the signing ceremony, which was held yesterday, that MTCC expects to complete the project within 45 days.

The total value of this contract is approximately $1 million.

According to the MPL officials, work under the second phase of this project will also be contracted to MTCC within the next two weeks.
