Improving boating infrastructure across Western Australia

Applications are now open for Round 26 of the Recreational Boating Facilities Scheme, with up to $1.5 million in grant funding available to upgrade public recreational boating infrastructure across Western Australia.

“Eligible authorities, including local governments, Government agencies and statutory authorities with responsibility for managing public boating facilities, can now apply for grant funding, with applications closing on September 1,” according to the Government of Western Australia’s official announcement.

Funds are available for the planning, construction or upgrade of boat launching ramps, jetties, moorings, breakwaters and new channels related to a public recreational boating facility as well as trailer parking areas, toilets and boating signage. 

Up to 75 per cent of the cost of a project is available, with the maximum grant set at $750,000.

“We’re committed to delivering quality boating facilities around the State with work recently completed on the Canal Rocks boat ramp, and other major projects including replacing the existing boat ramps and floating jetties at Bremer Bay now underway,” said Transport Minister Rita Saffioti.

Implemented in 1998 to improve public recreational boating facilities, the scheme has funded 450 projects over 25 grants rounds worth approximately $46.4 million.
