Advancing the Roberts Bank 2 project

The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority continues to work on the development of the Roberts Bank Terminal 2 project – a proposed new marine container terminal on Canada’s west coast.

As reported, the authority is continuing field studies in July 2021 as part of ongoing environmental and technical work for the Roberts Bank project.

“Our team of scientists continues to conduct field studies as part of the ongoing technical work for the project, with a busy season ahead collecting data on salinity, juvenile salmon, and juvenile Dungeness crab,” officials said in the release. “This work will help us better understand how species use the environment near the project site and determine if the measures put in place to protect them are working as intended.”

The study area is located in the upper and mid intertidal zones north of the causeway.

The Terminal 2 Project is a proposed new three-berth marine container terminal located at Roberts Bank in Delta, British Columbia.

The project has completed a federal environmental assessment by an independent review panel.

The main components of the proposed project are:

  • A new three-berth marine container terminal;
  • A widened causeway to the mainland to accommodate additional road and rail infrastructure;
  • An expanded tug basin to accommodate a second tug operations contractor.
