The Poole Bay beach replenishment video by Boskalis

Earlier this year, Boskalis Westminster Ltd completed a £7.5 million beach renourishment project in Bournemouth and Poole.

BCP Council

Under the project, around 350,000m³ of sand was delivered at eight areas from Southbourne to Poole, making them more climate resilient.

Some 1.3km of sinkerline (underwater) pipe stretched out to sea to connect with the TSH dredger ‘Willem Van Oranje’ so that material could be pumped ashore. Up to 2km of shoreline pipe was then used to distribute the sand and beach material.

The beach locations requiring a top-up included Solent Path to St Catherine’s Path, Gordon’s zig-zag to Fisherman’s Walk, Boscombe Pier, East Cliff, West Cliff to Middle Chine and either side of Shore Road in Poole.

Take a look at the video, produced by dredging and marine expert contractor Boskalis Westminster, which highlights the investments made by BCP Council to help protect this iconic coastline.
