Tootgarook Boat Ramp dredging happening this week

The annual dredging of the Tootgarook Boat Ramp and channel maintenance dredging works are in full swing now, according to the Victorian Regional Channels Authority.

This two-lane boat ramp, which is managed by the Capel Sound Foreshore and located opposite Burdett Street in Tootgarook, is open year-round for launching.

This requires yearly dredging and ongoing mechanical removal of sand from the ramp to allow safe, easy access to Port Phillip Bay.

As reported by VRCA, dredging works are being carried out by a long reach excavator, with dredged material to be deposited on the western side of the Tootgarook boat ramp and channel.

VRCA officials expect this dredging project to be completed by the of November pending favourable weather conditions.
