Earlier in the year, the two organisations jointly submitted the initial application to the Heritage Lottery Fund for £550,000 of funding.

Recently (Wednesday, 8 December), the Council received the news it could move onto the next stage of the application for the enhancements of the popular Bradbourne Lakes.

If successful, the improvements will include dredging the lakes, repairing the lake edges, walls and ornamental features, improving water quality and upgrading the paths to make the area accessible to a greater number of people.

Commenting the latest news, Cllr Margot McArthur said: “We are really excited to move to the next phase of securing funding for Bradbourne Lakes. We know this area is very special to residents and we are doing all we can to get the £1.2 million funding contribution needed for these improvements.”

“We’ll begin work right away on the next stage of the process and keep residents updated as we progress.”
