Dredging work kicks off at Wiggins Pass

The long awaited dredging operation at Wiggins Pass in Florida is finally underway.

For months weary boaters have been running aground on the sandbars that flank the mouth of the pass.

According to the Southwest Florida Television (SWFL-TV), it looks like the first of the sand will be deposited along the north side of the pass at Barefoot Beach. Sand will also be pumped to the point at the north end of Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park.

SWFL-TV has also released this very interesting video, taken couple of days ago, which shows the dredging equipment involved in the project.
