Hastings boat ramp dredging kicks off

Mornington Peninsula Shire, Victoria, have begun stage two works for the Hastings boat ramp, which includes dredging of the harbour around the new ramp and in front of the Hastings Yacht club, to facilitate boat access and provide for construction of a new pontoon.

Dredging will deepen the channel and accommodate the recently upgraded boat ramp, ensuring boats and watercraft can safely access the area in all tides.

It is anticipated the dredging will take two to three months to complete (dependant on weather conditions). The boat ramp will be accessible during this time, however there may be periods of limited access when dredging is occurring in the immediate vicinity of the ramp.

Construction of the second pontoon will begin once the dredging works are completed. The new pontoon will mirror the existing one on the southern side of the boat ramp.

These works are funded by Better Boating Victoria, as part of the State Government’s commitment to improving the recreational boating facilities at Hastings.
