Lake Luxembourg project includes dredging

Core Creek Park is going to be the site of a conservation project that officials hope will impact the body of water and park for generations to come, the Bucks County Conservation District (BCCD) said.

BCCD

Continuing the effort to improve water quality in Lake Luxembourg, this summer BCCD will implement a project that will:

  • Lower the lake level (July 18 – December 2022);
  • Remove accumulated sediment from the conservation pool east of Woodbourne Road;
  • Deposit excavated material on adjacent agricultural fields owned by the County;
  • Create wetlands and wildlife habitat features on the edges of the conservation pool.

The project is designed to reduce suspended solids and nutrient pollution making it into the body of Lake Luxembourg.

The desired outcome is improved water clarity, less frequent algal blooms, and an overall improvement to the lake ecosystem.

This project is funded by the County of Bucks, along with grants from the Environmental Protection Administration, PA Department of Community and Economic Development, and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation.
