Rock groyne at Point Richards takes shape

The new rock groyne at Point Richards is really taking shape, Better Boating Victoria reports.

Core rock has been put in place along the structure’s length, with armour rock now being installed as part of the upgrade.

These big boulders form the outer layer of the groyne and weigh up to 1.5 tonnes each.

The armour rock is being installed on the seaward side of the groyne at the moment, with work on the harbour side to follow.

An excavator platform will also be built in coming weeks. It’s been designed to cater for maintenance dredging being undertaken from the end of the groyne.

Work’s expected to be done and dusted in August.
