As reported, the company – one of the leading specialist in high-risk, large-scale projects – was contracted to provide Planning and Scheduling support for the major repairs in drydock of the two dredgers.

During such a major repair periodic, preventive, and curative maintenance is executed by various parties all under the supervision by DEME’s Technical Department.

TBH was requested to provide the necessary qualified Project Controls Engineer from start till finish to collect, analyze and assist the Project Manager in effective management and decision making to reduce the downtime, as well as any potential delays to the project.

TBH Senior Consultant Thuzar Lwin, who provided the Project Controls support on the “Bonny River” said “the level of detail in the integrated schedule coupled with the robust process made the project run smoothly. Site teams members were technically sound and supportive in updating the planning and control system. DEME’s Project Control Coordinator also provided assistance and guidance throughout the execution phase. I am very happy to be part of DEME team to see the successful delivery of the major repair ahead of schedule.”

According to Sophia Zhang who provided the Project Controls service in Singapore for the major repair of the TSHD “Brabo”, dredger major repair project often has a tight project timeline and requires a huge amount of collaboration between all stakeholders.

“I enjoyed my time working as the full-time planning engineer. Good rapport was built among the docking team, crew members and shipyard supervisors as the team adapted to changes, overcome challenges, and finally led to a successful completion of the project,” Zhang said. “Meanwhile, the Project Control Coordinator from DEME CPMO Nikos Giakoumatos provided guidance on DEME’s Project Control processes throughout the project as we worked closely to improve the schedule, analyze the critical path, and plan out resources.”

Thanks to the all parties involved, the repair of the vessels was successfully completed within the tight deadline. “It has been a huge team effort – our top priority was to support with the repairs within the deadline while maintaining a high quality on the Project Controls deliverables. The support received from the entire DEME team helped to complete the major repair within time and budget” concluded TBH Director, Meiske Sompie.
