Eastoke dredging program starts
Beach work at Eastoke on Hayling Island started today. The work will help protect homes and businesses against coastal flooding over winter.
With securing funding from the Environment Agency, Havant Borough Council will be carrying out this very important nourishment program in this area.
Material for this operation will be dredged from the approach channel to Chichester Harbour.
Shingle material has recently built up in this area causing a navigational hazard to local mariners.
The beach nourishment work will take place along the southern Hayling Island frontage between Eastoke Corner and Eastoke Point.
The land-based movement of shingle on the beach will start during week commencing 14th November 2022. These works will last for up to two weeks on site.
