FBH maintenance dredging campaign complete

Operations & Maintenance

Mid West Ports Authority (MWPA) has successfully completed another maintenance dredging campaign at the Fishing Boat Harbour (FBH).

MWPA

As reported by MWPA, the dredging campaign removed accumulated sediment from the FBH entrance and navigation channels to a depth of -3.5m below chart datum, providing safe, navigable access to this important maritime facility.

MWPA started dredging the FBH entrance in early September, and over eight weeks 22,000m3 of sand was removed and beneficially reused to reclaim area behind Berth 7.

The material was consolidated in the eastern end of the reclamation to maximise the creation of new land.
