Bids invited for South Caicos Port dredging project

Infrastructure

The Turks and Caicos Islands Ports Authority is inviting bidders for the South Caicos Port Dredging Project.

Ports Authority, Turks & Caicos Islands

According to the ports authority, the work includes channel dredging to improve the approach channel, portside/turning basin and dock access at the port on the island of South Caicos.

The recommended operations include:

  • Dredge Area A – Approach Channel,
  • Dredge Area B – Portside/Turning Basin,
  • Dredge Area C – Dock and Boat Ramp Access.

The approach channel is set to re-establish the channel depths along the original alignment.

This approach channel is moderately shoaled, and has not been maintenance dredged since the channel was first established and will restore navigability to the Port of South Caicos and increase the vessel and barge sizes (tonnage capacity) with access to the port.

Fully loaded barges reduce costs of goods and materials to residents, local business, and existing and future commercial development interests at South Caicos.

The total dredge volume is approximately 21,880 CY of material.

Tenders are to be submitted in a sealed envelope by Friday, 10 February, 2023.
