USACE delegation tours Mike Hooks’ new dredger Lorraine Hooks
Mike Hooks LLC, a dredging company based in Westlake, LA, hosted a delegation from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) earlier this week.

During the visit – part of the annual Dredging Fundamentals Course – 45 USACE employees were able to tour the new 27-inch cutter suction dredger Lorraine Hooks as it nears completion at Southwest Shipyard, LP in Galveston, TX.
Everything from the pumps, to the engines, to the ladder and more were on full display, said Mike Hooks.

Once outfitted and complete, the newbuild will be deployed on both coastal restoration and navigation dredging projects in Louisiana and across the region to improve climate resiliency and strengthen maritime infrastructure.
