Higgins announces funding for South Louisiana waterway projects

Congressman Clay Higgins announced yesterday that South Louisiana waterway projects received significant funding in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers FY 2023 Army Civil Work Plan.

“We continue to work closely with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and local stakeholders to prioritize funding for dredging and waterway projects in South Louisiana,” said Congressman Higgins

“The FY23 Work Plan provides critical support for our ports, waterways, locks, and flood control infrastructure across South Louisiana. Investing in our waterways is an investment in our future.”

Operation & Maintenance projects in Louisiana’s 3rd District were awarded:

  1. $41,786,160 for the Atchafalaya River & Bayous Chene, Boeuf, and Black
  2. $182,000 for Bayou Teche and the Vermilion River
  3. $202,000 for Bayou Teche
  4. $48,941,815 for Calcasieu River & Pass
  5. $ 19,424,000 for Freshwater Bayou
  6. $18,186,000 for the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway
  7. $7,159,000 for the Mermentau River

Construction projects in Louisiana’s 3rd District were awarded:

  1. $10,000,000 for the Southwest Coastal Louisiana Hurricane Protection Project
  2. $9,000,000 for the Calcasieu River & Pass Project
  3. $8,346,000 for the Louisiana Coastal Area Ecosystem Restoration Project

An investigation project in Louisiana’s 3rd District was awarded:

  1. $1,200,000 for the Port of Iberia and Acadiana Gulf of Mexico Access Channel (AGMAC) Project
