Mothers Beach Mornington dredging
The Mornington Peninsula Shire, located south-east of Melbourne, Victoria, is about to begin works on the Mothers Beach dredging and beach nourishment project.

Dredging will be undertaken at Mothers Beach, Mornington to provide safe access to and from the bay. These works are expected to start this week and continue until April 2023, the shire announced on its website
Dredging is starting after consultation with the Yacht Club and aims to reduce impacts on beach and water users while considering weather and environmental considerations.
The material removed during the dredging process will be placed at Shire Hall Beach where sand levels have declined.
As dredging begins, the Mornington Peninsula Shire will continue to monitor the environmental impacts and work closely with community groups, Parks Victoria and Better Boating Victoria.
The dredging – approved under the Marine and Coastal Act 2018 and Parks Victoria – will be conducted by Victorian Marine Services (VMS).
