Dutra nets massive dredging contract in Virginia

The Dutra Group of San Rafael, California, has won a multi-million dollar dredging contract from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

According to the government officials, the contract (W91236-23-C-5000) includes dredging by hopper or mechanical dredge and potential clean-up operations in Norfolk, Virginia.

The project being worth $67.5 million has an estimated completion date of March 22, 2024.

Even though the details of the contract were not released, it looks like the project is part of the overall Norfolk Harbor Navigations Improvements Scheme.

The scheme calls for the deepening of the Norfolk Harbor/Atlantic Ocean Channel from the current maintained depth of -52 feet MLLW to a required depth of -59 feet MLLW.
