To ensure more effective and natural protection of the beach from the winter storms in the Baltic Sea, Rohde Nielsen delivered 120.000m3 of sand.

The sand was pumped through a 1.000m submerged pipeline from a winning area located near the coast of Markgrafenheide, approximately 52 km east of Rerik.

To prevent the sand from being blown into the village, Rohde Nielsen also installed temporary sand trap fences along the beach.

The project was successfully completed thanks to the superior performance of the hopper dredger Thor R and specialized tug Loke R.
