As of yesterday, the dredge has placed over 300,000 cubic yards of sand on the Avalon beach. GLDD is currently pumping sand at the beach between 14th and 15th streets; beach paths are closed between 12th and 16th streets due to the construction zone.

Please note that Avalon’s north end beaches are an active construction zone. Beaches about 1,000 feet around the discharge station are closed due to the works, the Borough of Avalon said in the Facebook post.

They also added that the beach fill may pause this weekend due to strong northeasterly winds coming in from a coastal storm. The work is expected to conclude sometime in mid-May.

Once the beach is nourished and beach paths are constructed, the project will move to the Stone Harbor.
