President inaugurates harbor and coastal protection projects in Rakeedhoo

President of the Maldives, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, has inaugurated two completed development projects in Rakeedhoo island of Vaavu atoll.

According to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company, the president officially inaugurated the harbor and coastal protection projects in Rakeedhoo, as part of his ongoing campaign tour of Meemu and Vaavu atolls, which he began on Saturday. He is currently in Vaavu atoll for the campaign tour.

The Rakeedhoo harbor project was contracted to MTCC, and under the works, the company conducted harbor basin dredging operations in an area measuring 5,554 cubic meters.

Also, MTCC developed a quay wall measuring 164 meters and constructed a pavement measuring 492 square meters.

Further, the Rakeedhoo coastal protection project saw the development of a breakwater measuring 200 meters and a groyne measuring 45 meters.

The Rakeedhoo coastal protection project as well as the harbor development project, are expected to address several concerns facing the island community.
