The work that will be performed in one of Long Island’s most densely populated communities has an estimated completion date of February 14, 2024.

Under the deal, the contractor will dredge and pump over 250,000 cubic yards of sand on to the hurricane-damaged shoreline.

The main aim of the project is to reduce the risk of storm damage to homes and infrastructure in Bay Shore.

Ove the years, GLDD has dredged and placed millions of cubic yards of sand along the coastlines of Long Island for several purposes, including beach restoration for shoreline protection and recreation, dune grass planting to restore native plant and bird habitats, and improving pedestrian access to this vibrant coastline.
