Since January 2023, Rouzer has pushed for a bill in Washington that would allow the Wrightsville Beach renourishment system to remain in place.

H-R has not yet passed in the house, but in May of 2023, USACE stepped in and made an emergency decision to proceed with the renourishment under the previous system.

Rep. Rouzer said: “After months of working with the Army Corps and local leaders to secure this project, it’s great to see construction underway.”

“Strengthening our shoreline is imperative to the community’s physical resiliency against future storms, a healthy ecosystem, and our economic safety.”
