According to the Notice to Mariners No 32 of 2024, the dredging works will commence July 2024, in the North Haven Marina and are expected to be completed September 2024.

Works will be undertaken for up to 24 hours a day, 7 days a week,” the Department said in the Notice. “The dredge will be located within North Haven Marina with approximately 700m – 1000m of pipe running to disposal sites.”

The Department undertakes maintenance dredging of the entrance to the North Haven marina every 18 to 24 months to maintain safe navigation for vessels using the boat ramp or the marina.

Dredging works are carried out under a Dredging License issued by the Environment Protection Authority (EPA). For the last two decades, the dredged material has been pumped offshore north of the marina entrance for disposal.
