USA: EPA Will Require Radiation Testing Before any Dredging at Apra Harbor

Vice-Speaker B.J. Cruz received assurances from the U.S. Environmental protection agency last Friday that the agency will require radiation testing of deep core samples taken from Apra Harbor before any dredging and ocean disposal of materials occurs.

Cruz has urged the EPA and the Department of Defense over the past year to conduct testing rather than just surface testing. Cruz says sediment testing is insufficient for determining the presence of radioactive material at the harbor.
