India: ADAMS Acquires New DAMEN Cutter Suction Dredger

Akash Dredging & Marine services (p) ltd, Visakhapatnam (ADAMS) announces acquisition of a New Cutter Suction Dredger, from DAMEN Shipyards, the Netherlands.

This dredger after its erection and trails by the OEM shall be inaugurated on 15th February 2012 at ABG Shipyard – Dahej, Gujarat. ADAMS is a professionally managed company headed by its MD Mr. Madhava Varma who is ably supported by a team of qualified and experienced dredging professionals some of them trained at TID Netherlands.

Mr. R.R.K. Raju, Director

An Electrical Engineer having over 30 years of experience in metallurgy by way of Indigenization of Spares & Hydraulic Systems of Russian Origin to Indian Navy Ships. He has successfully led the Dredging operations both on the technical front as well as operations at projects in India and abroad in dredging and land reclamation works. Prior to joining in our Board he worked as Project Manager for a large size Capital Rock Dredging Project for Visakhapatnam Port, including drilling, blasting for widening and deepening harbour channel. He has over 18 years of dredging experience and project management.

Mr. T. Madhusudan, Director

A Graduate in Civil Engineering with 29 Years of dredging experience started career with M/s Dredging Corporation of India Ltd in 1978 his experience in various disciplines, operations, projects management , contract management, marketing both at Projects & Corporate office and while doing so, was Trained at Holland by IHC , TID on dredge management course at their training institute at Netherlands, for effective utilization / deployment of dredgers both for capital & maintenance dredging. While in the position of Deputy General Manager (Operations) with DCIL he also held the office as Technical adviser to Chairman cum Managing Director., DCIL for over 7 years till 2007. He consequently joined M/s Mercator lines Ltd in dredging division, headed the dredging division as General Manager – Dredging for a period little over 2 years. With his vast experience in the field of dredging he was inducted as a whole time Director.

CSD 500 having installed power of 1300KW and capable to achieve a maximum depth of (-) 15.5 mtrs with a production of 500 – 600 Cum Solids per Hour, with in a distance of 1.25km. The average monthly output would be 1.5 to 2.0 lac Cum basing on the site conditions and the type of material encountered.

This Dredger is supported with a pipe line of 1.5 Km Length of which 500 mtrs is FPL. ADAMS was incorporated in the year 2007 and has so far handling technical management services with experienced man power of both technical & operational personal of over 140 on its rolls and providing services to its clients to their utmost satisfaction for two large sized Cutter Suction Dredgers , CSD Marg Cauvery from 2007, with capacity of 1500 Cum solids per hour, Dredge pump 2020 Kw and discharge pipeline 800mm dia, Maximum pumping distance 3000mtrs and CSD Portofino with 3700 Kw Dredge pump engine and rated capacity 2000 Cum solids Per hour and suction diameter 900mm and pumping distance upto 4000 mtrs.

ADAMS are in the active process of acquisition of another Ocean going Cutter Suction Dredger shortly, with discharge pipe dia 760mm, rated capacity of about 1500 Cum solids per hour and pumping distance 1500 to 2000 mtrs.

With the above additions and technical & Operational expertise ADAMS are in a position to take up new dredging assignments for major and non major Ports independently as well as on joint venture basis.

DAMEN Dredging Equipment

The extensive product range of the Damen Shipyards Group is supported by the Groups own Dredging Equipment division. This division, represented by Damen Dredging Equipment, is a specialised supplier catering for all contractors dredging needs. The company, founded in the early 1940’s, both designs and manufactures its dredging equipment at the Nijkerk yard.

Following the good Damen tradition, a major part of the product range has been standardised. Hence the wide range of standard components is used to compose customised dredging tools.
