Pentwater Harbor Dredging Plan Moves Forward (USA)

According to Ludington Daily News, the community members and the village have teamed up to pay for dredging the channel to Lake Michigan this year since the federal government is not currently funding the work.

“We need more money to dredge to 11 to 12 feet,” said Village Manager Jim Miller. “But it looks like the dredging will happen and that’s a good thing.”

The amount raised is enough to secure a contractor, low bidder MCM Marine, which plans to do the dredging as it heads north from Holland, then Grand Haven jobs.

“The hope is after that the federal government will again fund dredging, if local politicians are successful in having the Harbor Maintenance Fund used for harbor maintenance,” Miller concluded.
