USA: “Currituck” Works at Wells Harbor

According to The Republic, the Army Corps of Engineers plans to dredge 20,000 cubic yards of sand from Wells Harbor in southern Maine to make it safer for boaters.

WLBZ-TV reports that the dredger Currituck will move the sand from an entrance channel to a federal waterway and deposit it near the shore of Wells Beach.

This dredging project should wrap up by Thursday.

The sand is apparently creating shoaling situations which can be hazardous for boats entering and exiting the harbor.
