Philippines: PPA Undertakes Several Port Projects in Negros Occidental

The Philippine Ports Authority is undertaking engineering projects worth P86 million to improve its various terminal management offices in Negros Occidental.

According to The Philippine Information Agency, the renovation of Bacolod Terminal Office costs P58.58 million.

Fetsy Diamante, the PPA Resource Division Manager said: “This includes a P16.9 million renovation of an old building to become a passenger terminal and construction of ports management office at Banago Port.”

A 5,600 square meters causeway is also being renovated at P37.80 million. Also, an existing structure in Banago Port will be rebidded at P3.8 million for a feasibility study and masterplan, which will include siltation and structural stability/analysis. Proposed projects in Banago port include construction of a Roro ramp and a dredging and reclamation of the area and installation of shore power.

The projects were presented in a recent meeting of the Negros Association of Government Information Officers.

A total amount of P25.96 million will be spent to provide a new passenger terminal building and TMO office in Danao TMO, Escalante City, and repair of its old wharf at P12.5 million. This will include dredging of berths and maneuvering areas and installation of shore power.
