MANSA: JNPT Dredging Deal – Great Achievement for India

The Mumbai and Nhava-Sheva Ship Agents Association pointed out that the inking of the Jawaharlal Nehru Port dredging plan was a “great achievement for the maritime industry of India.”

“MANSA appreciates and applauds the persevering spirit of the current JNPT management in ensuring that this major project of lasting impact in the maritime activity of this Port is finally on stream. Since we had closely been witnessing the traumatizing delays of the process in finalizing this contract, MANSA has greater joy to see the project gets going, at last,” said MANSA in a statement.

On August 2, Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. has acquired a contract with port operator Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust for deepening and widening the port and access channel of JNPT in Mumbai, India.

The contract has a total value of approximately EUR 175 million. The dredging work will commence in September 2012 and is expected to take two years to complete.
