Mantanzas Pass Dredging Set for September (USA)

According to the Lee County Department of Natural Resources, the dredging project at the Mantanzas Pass should begin in mid-September.

Alex Frankian, the Boat Captain, said it’s tough enough for local boat owners to get through this channel.

“You will run aground if you draw any more than three feet of water, it’s that shallow. It is definitely a danger for someone without local knowledge,” he said.

Steve Boutelle, Operations Manager for the county Division of Natural Resources, says the Army Corps is working on a detailed evaluation of the channel.
