Bangladesh: Jamuna River Dredging Wrapped Up with Full Effectiveness
According to thefinancialexpress-bd.com, the recently completed Jamuna river dredging project on pilot basis has been wrapped up with its full effectiveness.
A total of 22 kilometre dredging at a cost of Tk 10.28 billion has also reclaimed 8.5 square kilometre area.
This reveals that more land across the country could be reclaimed by intelligent dredging.
“The new channel is helping to shed water pressure in the Sirajganj hard point of the river, As a result, in the last rainy season erosion and scouring did not happen,” stated Jati Das Kundu, project director of the Capital Dredging of River System in Bangladesh.
