Division Commander Tours Delaware River Dredging

Col. Kent Savre, commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers North Atlantic Division, met with regional stakeholders and held a town hall meeting during a visit to the Philadelphia District Sept 10-12.

Savre toured a number of District projects including the deepening of the Delaware River, the Philadelphia Navy Yard seawall, the Chesapeake & Delaware Canal, and military construction work at Dover Air Force Base.

Savre discussed Philadelphia District support to both the Environmental Protection Agency and the Federal Emergency Management Agency. He met with stakeholders from the EPA, FEMA, and U.S. Coast Guard and local project partners from the Maryland Port Administration, Maritime Exchange, the Philadelphia Regional Port Authority, the Port of Wilmington, and the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control.

During a town hall with District employees, Savre emphasized his priorities: “My philosophy can be summed up in three phrases: mission first; people always; and a team of teams. We work for the American tax-payer and must place our mission first; be effective members of teams; and always treat people with dignity and respect.”
