USA: New Topsail Inlet Dredging Set for December

Topsail Beach commissioners on Thursday approved funding for the routine dredging program at the New Topsail Inlet.

This very important project is scheduled to commence in a few weeks and will last through next fall, reports jdnews.com.

Regarding the plan to keep the New Topsail Inlet open, Topsail Beach Mayor Howard Braxton stated: “The Corps is very concerned about it. They don’t want it to close. If it closes then the Coast Guard is going to come and pull the buoys.”

If everything goes according to plan, USACE’s side-caster dredger should arrive in the inlet by December 5th.

Currently, the town officials are working on a permit for the channel widening to 150 feet and deepening to 16 feet.
