Gloucester’s Canal Dredging – Great Results (UK)

Gloucester's Canal Dredging

In a recently completed dredging project at Gloucester Docks and the nearby canal, almost 9,000 cubic metres of silt have been removed from the mentioned area.

The operation, which was run by the Canal & River Trust, was undertaken by utilising the dredger Serendipity.

The dredging program has left mid-channel depths of about four metres, which allow vessels a comfortable voyage in and out of Gloucester Docks, reports thisisgloucestershire.co.uk.

We know how important a successful dredging operation is to local businesses and people who use the docks on a regular basis. It is particularly important for events like the Tall Ships Festival, which features vessels with deeper draughts that rely on certain water depths,” said Paul Fox, project manager at the Canal & River Trust.
