Gulf Place Closed for Beach Renourishment

The City of Gulf Shores has announced the partial closure of the public beach and parking area at the end of Highway 59 to allow for progress to continue with the ongoing beach renourishment project.

While certain areas of the beach and parking will be closed, some areas will remain open throughout the duration of the project.

Gulf Shores officials encourage those interested in viewing the renourishment process to use caution and respect the safety zones established.

West-to-East dredging and beach fill activities with the Bayport have been completed to W. 2nd Street and have jumped to between E. 3rd and E. 4th Streets and are now progressing westward toward the Sea’N’Suds and Gulf Place.

Currently, operations are progressing westward from the 400 block of EAST Beach Blvd. westward to Gulf Place and W. 2nd Street to tie into the completed fill area.
