UK: Fife Council Unveils St Monans Dredging Plan

The Fife Council has introduced a plan for the dredging project at the Glenrothes area.

The project consists of reducing the accumulated silt on the harbour basin floor and entrance channel by an agitation dredging process which will stimulate the particles into temporary suspension in the water, which are then removed from the harbour on the ebb tide.

These works will include:

– Mobilisation of plant to and from St Monans;

– Removal of approx 7,500m3 of silt from the harbour floor;

– Craneage in and out of harbour (if required);

– Tidal working;

– Pre and post dredge bathymetric surveys.

Work will take place over 2 weeks during March/April 2013.

The closing date for the expressions of interest is January 30, 2013.
