Mariel Port Project to Boost Investments, Cuban Leader Says

The Mariel Port is Cuba’s most complex project that can boost investment and foreign trade, according to the Cuban leader Raul Castro.

This port is expected to be the country’s main trade hub, said Castro, who toured the Mariel Port together with former Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva on Wednesday.

Regarding the port development plan, Lula stated: “I dream this port will contribute to Cuba, especially to the development of an important industrial zone.”

According to nzweek.com, the first 700 meters of the Mariel Port dock is expected to be operational by the end of 2013.
