Oceanfront Beach Replenishment Kicks Off

The Oceanfront beach replenishment project has officially begun.

The Army Corps of Engineers has commenced the offshore sand dredging program, piling load on an area from 15th Street to 70th Street, according to wvec.com.

Jennifer Armstrong, the project manager, stated: “If another storm were to come and hit, you would be looking at a lot more loss of sand. The sand acts as a buffer, so all that energy would be placed on the seawall.

Under the Oceanfront beach replenishment plan, by May 15, more than a million cubic yards of sand will be pumped onto the beach, reports wvec.com.
