Government to Purchase New Dredger

Re-elected Marikina City Mayor Del De Guzman has vowed to keep disaster risk reduction, education and employment as his top priorities on his second term as local chief executive.

De Guzman took his oath of office Sunday before Judge Lorna Chua-Cheng, the executive judge of Marikina Regional Trial Court at the Marikina Convention Center, Barangay Concepcion Dos, Marikina City.

He added that the city also prioritizes flood mitigation and disaster risk reduction. The local government will purchase its own dredging machine which will be utilized to increase the carrying capacity of the Marikina River and make it a more effective floodway.

“The city will also make the pumping station located at the Provident Village and other pumping stations in low-lying areas fully operational, and will also place additional pumping stations should the need arises.” De Guzman said.
