Corps Seeks Public Comments on Sutter Basin Feasibility Study

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District will host a public meeting July 22 at the Sutter County Veteran’s Hall in Yuba City to outline and accept comments on its draft feasibility report and environmental document for the Sutter Basin Pilot Feasibility Study.

The Corps is conducting the feasibility study in partnership with its non-federal partners, California’s Central Valley Flood Protection Board and the Sutter Butte Flood Control Agency, to investigate the flood risk within the Sutter Basin area.

The tentatively selected plan proposed in the draft report would implement flood risk management features along the Feather River West Levee alignment over a distance of approximately 41 miles to help reduce the risk for nearly 100,000 people, and more than 26,000 structures within the Biggs, Gridley, Live Oak and Yuba City communities.
