Completion of Manistee Harbor Dredging Set for September

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Detroit District, recently awarded a contract for dredging at Manistee Harbor in West Michigan.

The $473,366 contract was awarded to BayShore Contractors, LLC of Grand Rapids, Mich. The firm will dredge 24,500 cubic yards of material from Manistee Harbor and deposit the material south of the harbor in the near shore area for beach nourishment.

“This contract helps the Corps of Engineers fulfill its important obligation to maintain the Great Lakes Navigation System for the benefit of commerce and our nation’s economic strength,” said Lt. Col. Robert Ells, district engineer.

The work is expected to be wrapped up by mid-September.
