Balili River Cleanup Plan Receives Support (The Philippines)
Local residents in La Trinidad, Benguet, who compose 42 organizations have adopted the system of self-help in the revival of all tributaries of the Balili River.
This was learned from Municipal Mayor Edna Tabanda who is assessing the various Balili River rehabilitation programs launched by various agencies and non-government organizations in the past years.
Despite several studies and project launching, it is most noticeable during this summer season that the water of the river remain murky in most sections and has reached a very shallow level.
Tabanda explained that the 42 organizations have adopted the project of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in the revival of the clear waters and marine life of several tributaries through strict dredging of accumulated silt and garbage.
