The Philippines: Dredging Project to Delay DOT’s Plans

Dredging Project to Delay DOT's Plans

The Department of Tourism (DOT) regional office is eyeing the Iloilo River as an anchor of all city tours.

DOT Regional Director Helen Catalbas said the inclusion of the river in all city tours notched a sustained implementation since January 2013 until December 31, 2016 and beyond.

The amphibious bus and boat tour will be used in all city tours to be implemented in the third quarter until the last quarter of 2015.

However, this project will have to wait until further dredging of the Iloilo River, especially under the bridges.

The cruise and drive tour within this year will start from Iloilo City for a tour of Western Visayas connecting the islands of Panay, Guimaras and Negros Occidental.
