Picture of the Day: Galveston Harbor Deepening Underway (USA)
Suction hopper dredger M/V “Glenn Edward”, the newest and largest hopper dredger in the U.S., is currently removing material from Galveston Harbor.
The vessel is working to maintain the channel depth at its currently authorized 45 feet as part of an option that was exercised on the existing fiscal year 2013 Galveston Entrance Channel contract.
The dredger will remove approximately 1.7 million cubic yards from Galveston Harbor and it is expected to complete this task about September 5, 2014.
