Mackay Marina Southern Breakwater to Close Again (Australia)

Mackay Marina Southern Breakwater to Close Again

The next round of improvement works to be carried out on the southern breakwater  at the Mackay Marina will commence from Monday, August 25, and continue until  sometime around the end of the year.

Accordingly, in the interests of safety, public  access to the breakwater will not be permitted while the work is being undertaken.

The work is being undertaken to repair damage caused earlier this year by Tropical  Cyclone Dylan and also to improve the protection afforded to the Mackay Marina. A  significant amount of work was undertaken earlier this year to ensure that the  breakwater was fit for use.

NQBP recently re-opened the breakwater to public access on a temporary basis  during a break in the works program. With work now scheduled to recommence,  NQBP is again required to close the breakwater to the public due to the large volume  of construction traffic and heavy machinery required on the breakwater for the work.

Work will be undertaken between normal construction working hours of 6:00am to  6:00pm Monday to Friday and 6:00am to 12:00 noon on Saturdays, although  activities likely to cause noise impacts will be restricted to between 7:00am and  5:00pm Monday to Friday and from 7:00am on Saturdays.
