RDA Contracting Bags Sacramento River Contract
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Sacramento District, awarded a $3.6 million contract Sept. 30 to RDA Contracting, Inc. of San Rafael for Sacramento River erosion repairs near Walnut Grove.
The work involves placing nearly 24,000 tons of quarry rock along 1,550 linear feet of river bank. Woody debris will also be placed in the water along the river bank to improve fish habitat. The in-water work is expected to be completed by the end of November 2014 and rock placement, soil and plantings above the water are expected to be completed late March 2015.
“Most of the rock placement will have to take place from the water since there is limited access on the land side,” said Corps project manager Stephen Osgood. “I’m very excited this contract was awarded on time and we can begin making some much needed erosion repairs.”
The work is part of the ongoing Sacramento River Bank Protection Project, a joint effort between the Corps and the Central Valley Flood Protection Board to repair river bank erosion and protect levees along the Sacramento River and its tributaries to reduce flood risk for the Central Valley.
RDA Contracting, Inc. is a U.S. Small Business Administration 8(a)-designated small business. The Small Business Administration’s 8(a) Business Development Program is designed to help small, disadvantaged businesses compete for federal contracts.
