MTCC to Purchase New Dredger

The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) plans to purchase a $36 million dredging vessel, according to Minivan News.

MTCC CEO Ibrahim Abdul Razzaq stated that this piece of equipment will be a hopper suction dredger, which will be capable of reclaiming one hectare of new land in just two days.

This is an investment to ease the land reclamation projects done in the Maldives,” said Abdul Razzaq. “We are currently talking with Holland’s IHC Company regarding the purchase, the dredger will be designed to be suitable for Maldives.”
