Gator Dredging Wins Ocala Deal

The City of Ocala has contracted Gator Dredging to work on the Tuscawilla Lake Alum Pond sediment removal project.

The pond is located on the south end of Tuscawilla Park. Removing sediment from this pond is required periodically to stay in compliance within the Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s (FDEP) permit.

Work on this project, which began last month, consists of the following improvements:

  • Excavating a sediment drying cell east of the alum pond;
  • Pumping sediment from the alum pond to the drying cell, by way of dredge;
  • Removing sediment material from the site when dry.

The project is estimated to be complete mid to late August 2015.
