Heron Adds Two New SHBs

Auckland-based marine construction and dredging company, Heron Construction Ltd., has taken delivery of its two new 1200m³ Split Hopper Barges.

The new SHB’s come as a timely addition to the Heron’s Australian fleet that is currently carrying out dredging operations throughout Victorian waters.

The SHB’s are fitted with Bow Thrusters that represent Heron’s dedication not only to production, but dedication to reducing the potential safety and environmental risks that are associated with the company’s dredging operations through Australia and New Zealand.

Last year, Heron Construction celebrated 50 years of operation, with many successful projects across New Zealand, Australia and the South Pacific under its belt. Starting back in 1964, the company was primarily engaged in the construction of concrete structures such as large pump stations, bridges, culverts and large crib walls, and was at the forefront of trenchless technology or pipe thrusting.

With time, the scope of works quickly expanded and now includes river works, river and harbor pipeline crossing, desedimentation works, marina dredging and port and harbor dredging projects throughout New Zealand and overseas.
